31st March 11

Hello guys, I’m back! It’s been a while since I posted any blog entry related to art. I really miss Tumblr! I was really busy finishing my paintings, my plates, and I was busy studying (stu-dying) haha kidding! I just hope every bit of that time I dedicated would pay off. I’m going to post a lot after I’m done with this semester. ☺

Me and my block mates have been working hard for our first block exhibit for some time now, and I’d totally appreciate it if you would come and see what we’ve been working on. Here is our passion and what we do in the name of art. As we enter the art scene and show our talents as young artists, take a gander at our works of art. I invite everyone to our block’s exhibit!

FRESH MEAT

An art exhibit by the 1st-year Block-Y Studio Arts students of the University of the Philippines Diliman, College of Fine Arts

Time Saturday, April 9, 2011 ·  6:00pm -  9:00pm

Location Sining Kamalig Gallery (Level 4, Gateway Mall, Araneta Center Cubao QC)

We are the meat, the core of substantiality. We think of meat, and we see the edible flesh, the rawness of it, the essence of its tastefulness. Freshly extracted, to be sliced and diced and cooked to satisfaction. Victimized.

We are the victim, the hostage of ART. Craved for, baited, thrown into the ART scene, and ready for the feast of beauty and true creativity drawn from the crux.

FRESH MEAT introduces raw talent to the ART industry, featuring works of promising young artists from the College of Fine Arts, University of the Philippines Diliman. They are from the freshman class of Professor Nestor Olarte Vinluan. The exhibit showcases ideas fresh from the artists’ stream of consciousness, revealing their personal thoughts and feelings.

Making our entrance into the vast world of ART, we bring you uncensored visual manifestations on a wide spectrum of topics, like FRESH MEAT brought unto the table for the full experience of delight.

9th January 11

Some time last year, me and some of my block mates went to this pretty dope exhibit featured in one of my professor’s curated exhibit when we last came in Sining Kamalig, Gateway. Good thing, I saw the flyer once again while I was browsing photos in my camera.

This, by far, was the coolest exhibit I’ve even been to. I swear, anybody who would go to see it would never want to leave the place after roaming around. If you could only see our faces while we were looking at the paintings, hindi maipinta mukha namin. Lol.

It’s a show intended to complement the “more serious” exhibition Experience the Face, featuring some eighteen artists interpreting the title Looks Kill as “Hanep, pamatay sa gander!” and “Pre, drop-deap gorgeous!” and “Killer Looks” and “Things that kill.” Nevertheless, experience these faces, too!

I totally agree with the above statement. Mini-heart attack ongoing.

I’m not really a fan of hyperrealism, but these paintings got me dumbfounded. One thing I love about the exhibit is the concept of their works. I like the agressive attitude with a bit of eeriness in it. Shit, I want to paint something like these.

These are just some of the paintings in the exhibit that I really like. If I had a million dollars, I’d probably buy every painting in the gallery. At the moment, I’ll just be catching inspiration from those artists. Someday, I will be as good as them!

Oh and by the way, we will be doing our very own bock exhibit here around February or March! I’m so stoked.

23rd December 10

This is it! I came to CFA late since the jeepney lane going to UP Campus is barely moving, and every taxi I try to wave at is occupied. I have no choice to but to walk… Lol jk. Layo amp. I rode a taxi after 30 minutes of waiting.

I don’t want to fail to catch the chance to see the other college’s floats and lanterns that will parade around the campus, so there. Me and my other blockmate literally “escaped” (or rather, sneaked) our way out of CFA just to take photos of every float we see. Kasi kami dapat magmamanage ng float namin, so at the end ng parade, kami pa rin ‘yung pagod. Rawrr. Eh madaya ako eh, hehe.

We filed our way around the acad oval. Just imagine how wasted and tired we were that night…but all is well. We did great!

Sorry for not putting proper labels on some floats. I can’t remember whose college owned it. Basta picture lang nang picture. Hehe.

Para sa mga hindi pumunta ng Lantern Parade.. :| I’ll show you half of your life that you missed. Loljk!

My blockmates, along with our tie-dyed costume!

Block Z. Hi!

Finally I am in the picture! Lol hahaha.

Ours. Yay!

Last stop at the Quezon Hall. Hindi ko masabi kung ilan ‘yung tao na nandito, pero para kaming nasa stage habang nagcoconcert tapos sila ‘yung audience eh. Ganun ‘yung feeling. Ganun kadami. Grabe lang!

First Lantern Parade: Success. Kahit super pagod, fulfilled naman. Yay! Thank you rin pala sa mga taong nagpapicture sa float namin. Looking forward to next year. Excited much? Haha!

P.S. At sino ba kasi ‘yung mga sumigaw ng “We love you Pau Villanueva” sa tapat ng Palma Hall? Umamin ka! Lol. Love you too! Hehehe.
