I rarely see an exhibit featuring digital artworks - I’m glad I went on this one! People have this common notion that digitally made artworks are easy and sometimes unoriginal. I hope people would disregard that thinking because I believe digital art is a form of art and expression, too (and it requires a lot of effort as well!) I’d usually prefer traditional over digital, but it’s nice to veer away and appreciate some of those badass designs and creations once in a while!

The exhibitors were from De La Salle - College of St. Benilde and they’re the graduating batch of Multimedia Arts students (if I’m not mistaken!) I went here with Christine since we got invited by David to his exhibit. The place was full and a lot of people checked it out as well. I love the theme of their exhibit - character through art. Check out their works! ☺

“Diamonds Aren’t Forever” by Jose Chang IV. This was my favorite so far! ☺

“Seeing Within” by Leslie Tan

“E. Resonance” by Daniel Tamayo. This work reminds me of Final Fantasy haha!

“The Act of Bowing” by Meryl Liong

“Kaleidoscope” by Camise Neria

“Trinity” by Hiromi Ishikawa

“The Cataclysm” by Paolo Villegas. I love the color scheme of this one.

“Varied Perspective” by Anne Noble

“Live Young” by Margarita Constantino

“Leave Behind” by Kim Louis Alejandro. I would love to see a traditional version of this one!

“That Lovely Scary Feeling” by Gelbrette Rojas

“Character is Power” by David Guison

“Cut The Silence” by Syril Bodabilla. The popped-up elements of the artwork was so cool! Wish I had the chance to ask the artist where she got it printed!

“Extend A Hand” by Sheila Lee

“Master Balance” by Pamela Dy. I love the message of this artwork!

“Prove Them Wrong” by Ron De Leon

“Pintados” by John Robert Hidalgo

“A Little Rain Won’t Hurt You” by Francine Landrito

“Peace of Mind” by Fibert Chu

“Stronger” by Sharina Santos

“The Wellspring of Life” by Dave Mariano

“Transparent” by Crisanto Baquiran

“The Flying Pansol” by Hai Lim

“A Beautiful Perspective” by Lor Alfonso. I also love the message of this artwork. Not only mixed Filipinos are beautiful! Oh, and I’m not sure but I think this was traditionally created!

Above are some random photos and works from the exhibitors. I find the artworks classy and diverse in their several means to show character through art. The food was also tasty! Hahaha! I really have to commend on that lol! The exhibit was nicely put up too - they also included the artists business cards. I took one in every artwork haha!

Christine’s shop, Crave More, was one of the sponsors in the exhibit, that’s why we stayed for awhile. Thank you David for inviting us! ☺ Congrats again to the exhibitors! ☺ You guys inspired me to develop my non-existent digital art skills haha!

“To most of us, heroes remain in textbooks. Why give a fuck?”

This was one of the exhibits that made me think and really had an impact on me. I rarely read the whole write-up for the exhibit theme, but this one got me really curious so I ended up reading everything. Filipinos do not have a national hero - this was the opening line. Sadly, it is true. The great Jose P. Rizal was proclaimed by the Americans, not by the Philippine Government. Even so, these “heroes” we all know just came out from those textbooks we’re only required to read in school. We get to read or google about them when we need them for projects, posters, and some. Check out the works of over 130 artists doing their own take on the soon to be obsolete postcards. It may be out of style, but who said postcards can’t be a patriotic art canvas? ☺

Oh and on the lighter note, I really love how witty and brutally honest the works are! A stinging satire on some of them which makes it really funny and creative! You have to agree on some of them - check it out! ☺

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo above: lol, enough said!

This one wasn’t too obvious, don’t you think? Haha what’s up, Erap!

“Ang nag-iisang putang ina ng Pilipinas” - hahah, strike two for Ginang Arroyo!

“A postcard is a work of art. It is not just a glossy cardboard with a quaint photo. The artistry of a painter, or an artist is depicted on these postcards. In this case, this is how the artist envisions the hero or a reflection of how heroic one must be.”

The shutter shades on Emilio Jancito. Haha!

That’s above everything! Below are some of the works that caught my attention. Haha!

Cool acetate layering! I don’t know who he is though haha!

Left For Dead 3: Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Edition

Reminded me of The Warriors! Oooh I miss playing that game hahaha

This work above was my favorite! Those details are really fine. Gotta work on my art skills once again!

These were the 130 artists who worked on the exhibit. Bet you can’t read them lol haha sorry! Btw, I was with my Painting block mates this time. We watched a movie before this haha! Forever my art buddies! ☺

The Alternative Gallery is located in Unit 4B, Cubao Expo! ☺ Hope you guys got the subliminal messages on those works and liked it as much as I do haha! *winks*

Another late post! I was thinking if I’m still going to post this, but I swear this should be the last time I’d be posting an event post that’s like two months ago. I have to quit that habit and make time for everything! School work has been dragging me down but I told myself how I wouldn’t let it take it’s toll on me. Besides, art is all we’re here for! ☺

I was with my Visual Communication block mates this time! I miss them - well, not like we’re not seeing each other but plates have been on our way ever since. Anyway, this exhibit was held at Light and Space Contemporary. It’s really a nice place for an art exhibit - though the only con I see is how far that place is. Fairview pare, so far naman the view! Loljk! Anyway, there were two exhibits featured: Archie Geotiona’s Isa Pang Chickenjoy, andFuck Art Let’s Dance! I haven’t heard of the artists who joined but the art’s very contemporary and modern. Maybe they’re about my age range. Check it! ☺

Above: W.E.L.C.O.M.E. (We’re Evolved Loathing Consumers Obeying Melancholic Environments) I’m intrigued at this work - I wonder why he thought of using Jollibee lol. The title explains it!

Work above reminds me of Georgina Wilson. It is just me or maybe I’m always reminded of her haha lol

Above: Beeyus VS. The Hyperbeasts, Similar Objects. I like the two works above! Parang illustration. Hahaha.

Fuck Art Let’s Dance 2! I really have no idea what it was going to be up to, because I only knew two people from the list - and they’re both fashion enthusiasts or designers. Lol I’ve no idea haha! The exhibit was really modern for me. I kinda hope there was an explanation for the theme! Though it reminded me of my childhood. Haha!

Above work by Jujin Samonte. One word in mind: Cartoons!!!

My favorite work above by Okto!

Above works by Che Carlos. Some child-like imagination he got there. Haha!

Finally saw a daring performance art in a exhibit. It was the highlight! Apparently, the model was one of my block mate’s friends and he told us he was doing that pose for hours now. Talk about dedication! It was also well put up, including that silver paper sculpture above. Kudos for this art work! Forgot who made it haha!

Above: When I Feel Heavy Metal - self portrait photos by Raella Abella

Above: Jimi Hendrix - DJ Tong Remix by Tong Yangco. It was made out of old school CD Records! Cool shit!

Oh, and I also saw some bloggers that night. I wasn’t sure of who they were but some were familiar to me! One of them was Paul Jatayna - couldn’t say hi because I wasn’t sure, but if you’re reading this - hi Paul haha! Fairview was a far place, so we decided to chill right after. More nights like these! ☺
