Fresh Meat Exhibit: Opening Night

Last April 9, 2011, me and my Painting block mates celebrated our first block exhibit opening night at Sining Kamalig Gallery in Gateway, Cubao. Our exhibit was curated by Professor Nestor Olarte Vinluan, our Visual Perception professor.

Here are some of the works in the exhibit by FA1Y:

I wasn’t really hyped with the thought of the opening night of our exhibit a first. But as I arrived at the Sining Kamalig Gallery, my heart skipped a beat just by seeing the amount of visitors that went to our exhibit. I didn’t really expect much about it, but I was wrong. The opening night was just so epic. I really felt touched with the people who keep on asking me about my work, and also those who took pictures of our works. Haha! It just goes to show that our hard work was worth it. I’m really happy and proud with my block mates since we did a really good job showcasing our works. Thank you for everyone who went!

I’m seriously looking forward to another block exhibit. It was really fun! I hope my block mates would still consider me even though I’m shifting. Camille, hindi talaga ako nagpaparinig. Haha kidding! I love you guys!

Our sincere gratitude to Professor Vinluan for giving us the chance to do this. Thank you Sining Kamalig and block mates! You made it all worthwhile. :D

Growing Obscure

2011

4 x 4 ft.

Acrylic on canvas

This was my entry on our block exhibit “Fresh Meat”. I had a hard time doing this because of the lack of time and preparation, but I still did it! It was also my first time to paint in a scale of this size, so I was overwhelmed at first. If you could only just imagine what I look like after I finished it, haha! I got really inspired after I made this, and after seeing the success of our block exhibit, I kind of want to stay in Studio Arts. (tears…kidding!)

That’s me and my painting. How awkward do I look like! That’s my signature on the bottom-right corner! Thanks to my mom who stayed up all night with me while I was doing my painting. She just witnessed how I work, and she didn’t really like how I was bumming around every now and then. Hahaha! Cheers anyway! ☺

Let us pray for the souls of the Sedilla sisters, Jenina and Patricia, former students of STCQC . We all know that their souls are safe there with God up above.

Still not sinking in, but I know you’re in a better place. :)
