Hello! I’ve been wondering about that lately, but someone told me not to switch to Canon because I’ve been using a Nikon camera already. I think they’re both good cameras, I just prefer Nikon. Thanks!

This couple right here are two of my best buddies. I love how I can feel the connection between them just by looking at these photos. This wasn’t a formal photo shoot or anything. I didn’t ask them to pose for the camera or act like they’re sweet, they just happen to be that way while I play with my camera. Haha! They really are together and in love with each other. My friends left me forever alone. Haha kidding! I love them both. Stay in love! ☺

Dia De Los Muertos Exhibit: Secret Fresh Gallery

Me and Camille has always been art exhibit buddies back when I was still in Painting. For me, being inside an art gallery or any art event feels like home. You’re in a room full of people with the same interests and the art works hanged on the wall or in display just makes me feel fulfilled. Haha!

Well, anyway. We’ve waited so long for this exhibit! I’m not really a big fan of skulls and other gory subjects and shit but I know Camille has been dying to see this and being that art exhibit fanatic, I joined her. Haha! I got intoxicated with skulls!

image

image

It was my first time going to the Secret Fresh Gallery, and boy it does look fresh. Would want to exhibit there someday! The art works aren’t labeled, but there were about 50 artist who joined the exhibit. I wish I knew which art work they did!

Dia De Los Muertos means “Day of the Dead” and it’s a Mexican holiday. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Pretty much explains why they used a lot of skulls and bones as the main itema for the exhibit. All of the works were really colorful. Here are some!

I’m assuming they used a mold for the skulls because they all look the same to me in measurement. I was expecting a lot of paintings from the exhibit, but this is just better. I’m starting to like skulls!

I wonder why Camille wasn’t a part of the exhibit. Her art is so similiar to what I just saw. This work above reminds me so much of her. I hope she’s reading this haha!

I love those three skulls above, and below, and the one above that, and the other one, and oh, that one too! Haha I love how clean they painted those skulls. Not one skull looked the same as the other. You gotta love the skill!

Here are some of the paintings featured in the exhibit. Cool stuff. These made me miss painting!

Check this out! I’d buy this jacket if it were on sale. Haha!

Love those three paintings above. My favorite piece in the entire exhibit!

The exhibit runs from October 23 until November 8. Great stuff! Better check it out if you have time. ☺ Thank you Camille and Roman for bringing me there!

My Prehistoric Attack: Typography Plate

image

Prehistoric Animals: A Letras Y Figuras Plate

This is, by far, the deadliest plate I ever did when I shifted to Visual Communication. I did this for Visual Design class and finished it in a span of two weeks. I strictly followed the deadline because I was scared of passing it late because I was a newbie. I was so stressed because of this plate, but I was pretty proud of myself because it was my first time to do digital art. I had an option to do it the traditional way, but I wanted to try using my new pen tablet so I chose digital. Behold, my typography font plate starring dinosaurs off all kinds. I made the dinosaurs look less horrifying so they look cute! ☺

I enjoyed digital painting! I was easier than I thought. I hope the letters are recognizable! I did this using Corel Painter Essentials 4. I didn’t have time to explore Photoshop, so I used the easiest program available. I recommend it for starters! ☺

Away from Civilization: Mt. Makiling Invasion

It’s officially our Semester Break! Actually, nung 10 pa haha! We’ve been itching to go to some place where we can relax and just chill - somewhere we’re not reminded of plates and a place very far from civilization. Haha! Since me and my block mates have nothing to do, we decided to go up to Mt. Makiling, Los Banos, Laguna. We really don’t have any plans on doing anything there. I call it a temporary escape from the city. ☺

We went to Philippine High School for the Arts, where Maan, my block mate, and some of my Fine Arts friends went in high school. It’s a school for artistically gifted and talented people. The vibe there is just different. I felt the sudden urge to do some art work and I felt inspired all of a sudden. I actually envy them for studying there - if only I would have known. ☹ Sigh. Maan toured us around the place. I used my SLR to take pictures, so forgive me for the lack of photos.

image

image

image

Since we brought our cameras and our portrait and wide angle lenses, we exactly knew what we were there for. It just happened! I love how me and my block mates share the same interests. I have someone to blame for my vanity. Haha kidding!

image

So these are my blockmates - Jan, Maan, Enzo, and Roy. This shot above and below was taken with Jan’s camera. Yes, pang-album cover kuno. Haha!

image

I used Jan’s picture control settings and it gave me the Twilight-ish look. I thought it was perfect for the settings, so I tried it. Haha! Behold, the Jan Castolo settings! I also tried editing my shots which I don’t normally do. Let me know if it goes well! ☺

image

image

The camera just loves Enzo. He just knows how to pose! Pogi niya huhu.

image

image

Me and my bad posture. Haha!

image

image

Yosi break in the mountains!

image

This is Jan. She taught me a lot of things about photography that I didn’t really pay attention to before. Thanks, girl! Check out her blog!

image

image

image

image

image

image

This is Maan, posing with her baby Montero. Thanks for bringing us up here, girl!

image

image

We went to a small church on our way down the mountain. The place was just so quiet and calm. There were no moving cars on the road, so we decided to… You got it! Pose for the camera. Haha! I dreamt of having a picture on an empty road before!

image

Cute ni Maan haha!

image

image

image

image

image

While on set. Lol kidding! Enzo in action. He took most of my photos and I took his. It’s a mutual relationship!

image

image

Jan thought of some artist which I forgot his/her name that specifically took pictures of moving or jump shots that looked so still in the air. We tried to do it and I think the pictures looked cool! Yes, that’s me on the left. I’m having difficulty jumping high enough because my pants kept falling haha!

image

I was too shy to post some of my photos, but there. My dream picture on the road. Lol what hahaha! I had fun just strolling around Mt. Makiling with these guys. We were supposed to swim on a hot spring resort but I forgot to mention it. Maybe next time! ☺

Back in a Flash

Hi guys! Miss ko na kayo! ☺ I felt bad because it’s been a really long time since I posted here and I just felt like updating my Tumblr because a lot of people have been asking where I’ve been. I’ve been busy doing a lot of plates lately and my life isn’t the same since I shifted to Visual Communication from Painting. No more petix lol! Besides the fact that I’m busy, I’m going to share you what I’ve learned. Haha!

I was pleased that we have a Photography major in my course and I was so excited when I learned that we were going to start off with SLR cameras - ‘yung mga cameras na uso nung panahon ni lolo at lola na manual. Haha! I was overwhelmed at first. Our professor didn’t really teach us how to use it, but I enjoyed exploring it and I recommend it to everyone who’s starting of with Photography. Do I sound like a professor? Lol

We developed photos in the dark room (those pitch black rooms with only red light on it… usually seen in the movies!) and it was totally confusing, but I got the hang of it. Maybe I’ll explain how we did it in my next post. In the mean time, check out my first camera film roll! ☺

image

image

image

image

I went under the MRT to capture this photo. It wasn’t easy being looked at by a lot of people while taking this shot. Had to tag along my friend so I won’t look so strange haha!

image

image

image

See how the earth dries up? This is my favorite shot in the roll! ☺

image

image

image

image

image

My blockmate Jan. She taught me how to use the light meter!

image

Taken while I’m having my PE class, scuba diving. Yes, in the pool haha!

image

I tried my best with manual. Took me about a minute or two to put on the camera settings. At some point I look stupid for using two cameras at once to check the settings and randomly taking photos at random places but it was all worth it!

image

Everything was shot using a Pentax MX. Many thanks to ate Melai Balitaan for lending me your SLR! ☺ Without your camera… I don’t know anymore! Haha! So thank you! ☺
