I Survived Sagada: Part 2

After 5 hours of spelunking inside the Cave Connections, I didn’t think we could even rest because we’ve still got a long day ahead! After the sunrise setting, we trekked all the way up to Pongas Falls!

image

image

image

image

image

It was hot and cold at the same time. I don’t know how nature is capable of doing that!

image

image

Trust me - more than half of the photos from the entire trip are group shots and individual shots. I just had to choose the best ones! Here’s Marc rock climbing up to the falls!

image

Then here’s me. Haha! Seems legit!

image

image

image

I already ate lunch after trekking up, but I ate again after an hour. That’s how tired and hungry I am! Haha!

image

Finally reached Pongas Falls. It was in between two mountains - and damn it was high and far looking at it from town.

image

image

The water was…. yup, you got it - extremely cold. =)) I can’t explain the feeling because it felt totally nice and fulfilling. I guess y’all should go there and experience it yourselves! Haha!

image

image

We went to Echo Valley after and shouted our way down the Hanging Coffins. I guess you could tell why - because it echoes. Haha! I wish I could check out what’s inside the coffins! Lol weirdo hahaha

image

image

image

After going to the Valley, we went to a Pottery place. Totally brings back a lot of memories from my first year in college. I miss pottery class!

image

At dahil may sunrise, syempre may sunset din! My readers know how much I love watching and taking pictures of the sunset. I just couldn’t miss the chance taking it above a beautiful view.

image

image

image

After everything we did, we set up a bonfire beside the lake. Since we didn’t get to order Pinikpikan, our tour guides made the dish for us! It was a funny night - I butt-spelled my entire name as a dare because I lost in one of our drinking games =))

image

I just had to. Sagada!

image

image

Day 3! Because it doesn’t stop there, we climbed Marlboro Country the next day. Hahaha! I don’t know what’s up with my friends, but we just pushed ourselves to the limit. We were literally at the top of the mountain, and this deserves a jump shot!

image

I ate this berry. Because yolo!

image

image

image

Stupid me forgot to charge the camera, so I only have a few shots of the view from above. Damn, I swear. The view is was so beautiful. The pull of gravity also proves how high I am. I’m in one with nature!

image

…and this deserves a jump shot as well! Yay for jump shots hahaha!

image

image

I couldn’t take pictures anymore because I was literally tired and I just can’t even carry my camera anymore. Puro ako “kuya, pabuhat” =)) After all that 3-day adventure, I just had one thing in mind that I had to buy from the place: an “I Survived Sagada” shirt. Here’s all of us wearing it, and here’s me. I look like a stuffed toy because I had three layers of shirt beneath that shirt haha! That’s all, and I guess this is also the highlight of my semester break. Told my friends that this trip deserves a part two. More trips to come!

By the way, ang dami kong bruises, grabe lang. Ibang klase. Hahaha!

I Survived Sagada: Part I

Last week, I went to Sagada with my new UP friends that I just met this semester. It wasn’t in my sembreak plan to go, but why the hell not? I didn’t know what to expect - except that it’s going to be one hell of a ride on our way there. It was a 9-hour ride, and damn my butt did hurt. Haha! I didn’t think it would be an adventurous trip, because I’d always choose to food binge and sightsee. This one’s different though. It’s definitely exhausting, but totally fun!

image

image

image

Day 1! From Bontoc, this jeep greeted us and we rode on the top bunk! My friend Dhalal created the itinerary for this trip!

image

image

image

image

image

We ate at Salt and Pepper before going inside Lumiang Cave to Sumaging Cave. They call it the “Cave Connection”.

image

image

image

image

I’m ready - I think. Hahaha! Not really an active person, but I’m in. Had to take a picture of myself before and after entering the cave =)) Here are some of our photos inside the cave.

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

Shadow picture! That’s supposed to be “Sagada” hahaha!

image

I guest this is my after entering the cave photo =)) Pictures were taken by Kuya Daryll, the tour guide. I just have to commend on the photos - parang nasa studio lang kasi ‘yung lighting. Maybe I could be more resourceful by using a coal lamp next time I shoot.. Why not, right? Haha!

image

And this is all of us! From left to right: Harold, Mimi, Marc, Dette, me, and Dhalal! Pagod na kami huhu!

image

image

The water was extremely cold, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was invigorating! We still had to trek all the way up to exit the cave. My feet were about to give up on me, glad it didn’t. Haha!

image

image

image

We ate at the nearest restaurant near our house. Too bad they ran out of native chickens and we couldn’t order the famous Pinikpikan here in Sagada!

image

image

Beer is always a great choice of drink after a tiring day. Chilled out on the pub across the street and sang on the videoke. Hello to my favorite beer!

image

Day 2! I don’t know how I got up around 4am after a tiring day to watch the sun rise. The view was breathtaking - but I had to cover my face with my jacket because the temperature was too low and it hurts. Hahaha!

image

The Banawe Rice Terraces!

image

image

I love this view!

image

After waiting for Mr. Sun to rise, we rode on top bunk again on our way back to our house. Ang sakit ulit sa pwet, huhu! Wait up for my next post! ☺

Let me introduce you again to this photo set because I finally got the photos. Haha! This one’s for the last issue of Vivro Magazine. I love how I got to know the story by just looking at the photos (even though I haven’t read the book yet, haha!)

I got a bit experimental with the light setup in the studio. Shooting with a black backdrop isn’t easy, but I found a way to make the models pop-out and not be engulfed by it. I definitely learned something and thanks to Kuya from Camera Cart Studio for helping me out haha! We also got Aivan Magno to model for the shoot, and he’s one of the nicest bloggers I’ve ever met. Hey Aivan, hope you’re reading this! Thanks, Vivro Shoot Team! ☺

Check out the last issue of Vivro Magazine Volume V: We Bid You Adieu. We did an interpretation of Budjette Tan and artist Kajo Baldisimo’s comic book, “Trese”. Sadly, this is Vivro’s last issue ever, and I’m grateful to have been assigned as the photographer for the shoot. I personally have not read the book, but I consider reading it after the shoot. Haha! Will get the photos soon, but in the meantime, you can view the magazine. Thanks Vivro, It’s been nice working with you guys!

I’m not sure if the flash is seen in my blog, but you can click this link instead: http://issuu.com/famamfa/docs/vivro_volume_v/11

Freshman students painting on the UP CFA Art Wall seen from outside our college.

Look at those Fine Arts freshies. That’s how we roll - painting from day ‘til dawn! Yeah, just insisted on using the word “dawn” because it sounds better. Haha!

UPCFA Freshie Week: H.I.T!

The University of the Philippines College of Fine Art Student Council (UPCFASC) has made an event for our fine arts freshies for one whole week. This is our first project as a council, so we are all excited for this! Fine Arts students, check out the course of events that will be happening next week! ☺

image

CFA, are you ready?

image

June 25: FA-MAZING RACE! (Race you guys to the finish line! Brought to you by CFASC and CFA based organizations!)

image

June 26: FA-RT WALL! (This was my favorite event when I was a freshie. We get to paint the huge white blank wall and it’s seen by people from outside the building. That’s our CFA pride!)

image

June 27: COSTUME DAY! (Get dressed up as your favorite superhero character or invent your own! I get to be Ghost Rider for a day, how about you?)

image

June 28: BOOTH FAIR! (Everyone is free to go here! The booths range from t-shirts to milk teas and cupcakes! If you guys are interested to avail our booth in Fine Arts, y’all can hit me up with your contact number in my Tumblr Ask until June 25!)

image

June 29 would be the Culminating Night: CFA Freshie Concert! Freshies, you’re going to need your freshie kits to enter the concert. Huwag walain ‘yan, ticket din ‘yan. Haha! Everyone is invited to go as well to the rock concert. I’ll post the rock bands soon enough! Fast fact: UPCFA has the coolest and loudest rock concerts in the entire campus. Don’t miss it. Haha!

image

image

image

You guys can also buy our new novelty t-shirt: Creativity is contagious; PASS IT ON! Available in black or white. Message me if you’re interested! Please don’t text me in the number indicated in the ad, mali siya haha!

image

This is my costume for CFA Freshie Week! “I’m the only one who can walk in both worlds. I’m the Ghost Rider.” Haha! Wear your costumes guys! Hope everyone participates in all of the events. See you all next week!

Are you ready to HIT a different HIGH? If you know what I mean… ;) Haha!

Puerto Princesa, Palawan: Day 2

image

Definitely a late post because I got sick for the whole week last week. Sucks that I only have a one day weekend to rest. ☹ Anyway, here are some photos from our day two at Palawan! Our trip going to the Underground River covered up the entire day, then we just rested and went to some nice restaurant for dinner. My mother gets tired easily, that’s why our day was so chill. Haha!

image

image

image

My scrawny feet because of walking along the sea shore. Haha!

image

image

image

We had to ride a boat going to the Underground River.

image

image

image

Here’s our ride. They are just some of the tourists who came along with us. We eventually got to know each other-

image

See. That’s mom and someone we just met. Haha!

image

image

image

Of course you had to ride a boat to enter the cave. I didn’t know they allow to use a flash when taking pictures inside the cave. Should’ve brought mine!

image

image

image

That’s me. I look like a carpenter. Hahaha! I look a Lego man =))

image

Okay game let’s go inside. Hahaha!

image

The entrance of to the Underground River!

image

Here are some of my photos inside the cave. I used my built-in flash (yes, I really didn’t care if bawal haha!) and the red/blue glares on some of the photos are caused by the color of the life vest and the helmet. I could’ve opt for a better seat in front to avoid that. Haha!

image

image

They gave meaning in every rock formation they see inside the cave. From the Last Supper to a male frog… Haha weird!

image

Parang ang hipster lang ng dating ng glare effect. Haha kainis!

image

image

image

Do you dare enter? Hohoho!

image

The cave was huge and long. There were a lot of orbs on some of my photos. It could be orbs or maybe I mistook them for dusts on my lens pala. Hahaha!

image

Yes, it was stinky inside. Haha! My friend told me to take the funniest tour guide for the Underground River - our banker (bangkero lol) was too funny for my life. Hahaha!

image

Ohaii source of light hahaha!

image

image

image

Time so say good bye to the river. Haha bye Underground River! Lol

image

image

We went back to the sea shore. I roamed around and saw this little guy. I was scared haha! A komodo dragon!

image

image

image

It’s definitely one of the nicest place I’ve ever seen. I love the rocks on the background!

image

And this awkward rock. Haha!

image

image

After the trip, we went back to the city via boat and we ate lunch. Tired as fuck lol!

image

After the lunch break, we went to look for “tamilok”. It’s their delicacy in that place. My friend listed that as one of the dares she gave me.

image

image

Tamilok is a shipworm and is found inside a tree. It’s prepared as kinilaw - that is, raw (cleaned) but marinated with vinegar, chopped chili peppers and onions. It tastes like milk na oyster. Hahaha! Medyo kadiri nung una kasi raw, but I was game for it! Yes, I ate that. Hahaha!

image

Self-obligatory photo of me. Nyaha syempre lol!

image

image

After the trip, mom and I went to the market to buy roasted kasoy. Then we roamed around the city.

image

Kasoy na…something. I forgot lol!

image

For dinner, we ate at KaLui. I totally love the ambiance of the place, super chill. Haha! I recommend you guys to go there if you’re going to Puerto Princesa. Foodgasm-

image

image

image

image

Cute nuns eating dinner together! Awwwts!

image

image

image

image

image

There’s also a mini-exhibit going on inside. My kind of restaurant. Hahaha.

image

Yay for food! Forgot to take a picture of me and my mom because I was so dead hungry. This photo end the day!

image

Our trip - sponsored by Philippine Airlines haha!

image

image

That is where we end our trip. It sucked to see the city again. I had the best time though! Believe it our not, I’m still craving for “tamilok”. Hahaha! That weird delicacy’s terribly addictive!

image

Hi from me and my mom! I miss you ☹

That Haunted White Mansion: Baguio

image

Nothing much about this post: just a few ghosts and orbs in every picture I took. Haha, kidding! I was expecting for some scary apparition in my photos - but I think I scared them away. Haha! Tried using black and white for a more evident and stronger contrast and to make it a bit more dramatic (and eerie) kasi parang nagkulang sa pagiging “haunted” ‘yung mansion, lol!

image

image

image

image

Hindi, hindi talaga mukhang haunted ‘yung mansion because of Isaac’s reaction. Haha!

image

This was gonna be a great photo, if only a black lady should be standing in the middle of the hallway….. yeah?

image

image

image

I’m not really sure if that entity in front of the window is a ghost, but I checked out the photo while playing with the Shadow and Highlights option in Photoshop - and I’m pretty sure it’s just my cousin wearing her hoodie. =)) My bad! Sorry, Domeng. Haha!

image

image

image

Nye. Tourist? Hahaha!

image

image

image

image

That’s Isaac! It would be nice to shoot at this place. I saw some people doing a photo shoot here while we’re roaming around. Sana may pumose na ghost haha! I’ll shoot here someday.

image

image

Cristobal? :s

image

image

That’s my cousin, Frances! My cousin whom I thought was that black entity in my only picture with which seems to be a ghost. Huhu sayang lol!

image

image

Kuya Tots: “Pau, pa-picture naman! Pang-DP lang.”

image

Kuya Tots: “Uy pose ka rin na parang ako!”

There. Haha! Almost forgot about this post - good thing Domeng reminded me. Haven’t tried the B&W on my camera option that much - I’ll be working on my black and white skills soon enough! ☺

Puerto Princesa, Palawan: Day 1

image

We just needed that perfect getaway from the city. It’s all been so busy and stressful here in Manila, so I’m glad we found love in Palawan! Haha yeah that sounded cheesy, but our trip was more like an “escape” from reality and we didn’t really had much time to plan it out. No frills and nothing fancy - we’d rather feel like one of the locals there! Palawan was such a nice place. I got to breathe fresh air again and got to see a different view besides EDSA… Lol hahaha!

image

image

Antukin. Haha!

image

image

Boarding now! “Escape from Reality” staring Rio and Pau, nyaha!

image

image

Touchdown, Puerto Princesa! ☺

image

Their tricycles are cute haha! They all look like turtles to me, lol!

image

We ate at Haim Inasal after arriving from our pension house. I could sleep in this place…

image

image

Kunyari stolen shot haha!

image

image

Malay Chicken Inato!

image

I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo of the rest of the food I ordered lol!

image

image

image

Some local vendor gave us free langka iced candy. The locals are very sweet! ☺

image

We had our city tour, and I got to buy pasalubong for my friends. Kakadating pa lang, pasalubong na agad. Hahaha!

image

image

So many colorful south sea pearls. Too expensive though!

image

image

image

I remembered our Baguio trip! They also sell dream-catchers there. I’m probably dreaming. Okay weh corny ko bye =))

image

image

image

Saw these cute little hand-made Palawan minions at the shop! I bought one for my friend ☺ Too cute - I want to buy them all!

image

Mr. Alex, our very friendly tour guide!

image

Touchdown, Crocodile Farm! I held this kiddo because I was dared by my friend Dee to do so! She gave me a list of things to do while I’m at Palawan. This was way to easy - I did all of them haha! Sucks that I forgot to eat crocodile sisig though! ☹

image

Oh hi! Bagay kami? Haha!

image

image

image

There were basically a lot of Lacoste. Haha, chos! You thought these little crocs were harmless by their size. Some tourist leaned close enough to take a peek at them, then three of them just fucking leaped! Explains why I only have one photo of them. Huhu, they jump so high.

image

image

He’s a monster!!!

image

image

image

Saw this cute hornbill couple (?) Lol I just assumed they’re a couple because they kissed and they’re inseparable. Can’t stop laughing at my mom who corrected some Korean tourist who kept calling them “hombel” Wahaha!

image

This animal reminds me of myself…. Get it? Hay, antukin forever!

image

Me: “Hello!” Mynah bird: “Panget!”

image

This not-so-attractive-looking animal turned out to be one of the most adorable animals I’ve ever encountered with! Haha! He’s a bearcat. I asked the locals why they call him that: kasi daw mukha siyang bear, pero parang cat kumilos. Cutieee I want to hug him!

image

A picture with the bearcat - as dared by Dee again! He’s quite heavy and strong fragrance scares him away. Some gay tourist wanted to have a picture with him but the bearcat ran and climbed up the post because of his smell =)) Tell me bearcat, am I smelly too?

image

image

Touchdown, Mitra’s Ranch! I love the view from up here!

image

The ranch was quite huge. There was actually nothing else to do here but feel the fresh air and look at the view. Worth it though! Took a picture of these random group of people lol

image

image

Nope, I’m scared of those!

image

Touchdown, Baker’s Hill Palawan! If you guys already went to Sonya’s Garden in Tagaytay, you’ll actually find this place similar to Baker’s Hill. It’s like a secret garden - only with Snow White, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck and Marilyn Monroe, lol!

image

image

image

There were a lot of pretty plants and trees. Buti pa sila, bagong gupit!

image

image

Excuse me while I take a photo with this voluptuous lady, nyaha! I don’t know why I did this pose - tapos mom ko na nag-take ng photo wahaha! Totally inappropriate, but I just had to lol!

image

image

image

The garden down the hill!

image

Hello brother!

image

I don’t know if these are fake or not pero ang cute! Parang walis lang haha!

image

Saw this sluggish little bird whose kind I don’t know of on the corner of his cage. I really thought he was dead. I was supposed to throw a small stone at him but he woke up. Lol sorry hahaha!

image

First time to see a peacock! She’s really pretty! She really do loves showing off her feathers! Mom’s scared of theme because she got chased by a peacock when she was younger. I remember when I a kid, I wanted to be a peacock… Oh god, why =))

image

Sad duckling is sad.

image

Mr. Alex told us that the owner of Baker’s Hill only goes to the place once every month - that’s why the helpers all have this house by themselves. What a job!

image

Touchdown, Binuatan Creations! I really don’t know what to feel about the place - it’s really peaceful and colorful. Watched the workers weave and I immediately volunteered to try it out. Haha kapal ko lol!

image

image

Effort! Took me awhile to finish one weave. Errr, I’m no good… I’ll just take pictures nalang.. *crawls back to shell*

image

These weavers really work fast. I think it took me about half a minute to insert a single string inside the…. something….

image

image

image

image

End product and creation of the weavers! Really cool ships handcrafted one by one. Kayo na fine arts haha kidding!

image

Meh. Told mom to pose for me while checking out those place mats. She bought them!

image

image

Too many colors. Can’t breathe!!

image

While at work!

image

A close up view of what they’ve been working on.

After Binuatan Creations, we went back to our house. We called it a day - have to rest because we’d be heading to Underground River very early the next day for day two in Puerto Princesa. Stay tuned for more adventures of Rio and Pau! Lol jk haha! I’ll be posting about our second day soon enough! ☺

19. Hello! Thank you so much! :) Uhm, I suggest you start with the basics. Learn the proper functions of the shutter speed, ISO, and aperture settings. Ako, pinaka-critical kasi for me ang aperture setting. I use a wide aperture para ma-aaccentuate kung ano man ‘yung object that I wish to focus on. That’s where I really started, then I’m pretty sure masasanay ka rin :D

20. Hey, really? I think I was a snob back then haha! You could go talk to me anytime! :D

My professors back in Painting were amazing and I wondered myself why I even shifted haha just kidding! My course (VisComm) is nice as well if you’re into photography and design :D

30. Oh no, what was I wearing =)) Thanks haha should’ve said hi!

31. I just told them :s =)) No harm in that!

Summer at Baguio

It’s been 11 years since I last went to Baguio. I barely can remember what it looks like, haha! I was stoked to go back, and all because I couldn’t take the intense heat here in Manila. Haha. Nothing special about our trip - that’s why I decided to just take photos of wherever we go. Oh, my highlight of our trip was when we visited BenCab’s museum. I’ll make another post about that!

Tried a new way to post-process my photos - that gives it a dreamy and different feel. Let me know what you think! Here are the photos of our whole trip:

image

image

On our way to Baguio!

image

image

image

image

image

The much-obliged strawberry taho! Shouldn’t go home from Baguio without trying it lol

image

image

That’s a sad sunflower. Cheer up buddy! The sun’s coming after you!

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

Inihaw na mais! I’m terribly craving for one now!

image

image

Session road - where all the ukay-ukay’s are!

image

image

image

image

My tita wanted us to have a picture wearing this costume - glad we didn’t! Nyaha.

image

image

image

The view from SM Baguio! It’s a cool place - literally. I should’ve worn 3 layers of clothing!

image
